FEEDBACK
Kids don't like one way lectures, we have to make 'em actively participate in whatever we do in class, very opposite to how we learnt in our schools.

I am glad to inform you that our work on behalf of Teach India is going great here in Paldi area. My partner, Mrs Fagun Kothari, and I have found the three sessions till now very interactive and energetic. We have developed a good relation with the children in our area. Some of the children even requested us to take daily sessions as they found our sessions informative.Even we are pleased by their eagerness and enthusiasm to learn new things.
Yours faithfully,
Ankit Shah
Many people in our society desire to contribute in their own way to build a better nation. However, such desire may not always get actualised due to uninformed about where and how to start. The Times of India takes this initiative through its "Teach India " Campaign and boosted all such desires.
It is our experience that the children belonging to less privileged class do have talent and an immense urge to learn. When we taught them few basic words in English language, they immediately repeated the same loudly with joy in their voice and promise to use the same in their daily routine. They all enthusiastically participated in 'Culture Game' and took pleasure in knowing diverse festivals, food habits and culture of our Country. One girl viz. Kiran, studying in std. VI in nearby municipal School is very clever and a proper guidance will brighten her future. Actually, it's not only that we teach to these children but we too learn from these children. I get enormous satisfaction that I in my own little manner am doing something for the better tomorrow i.e. the children.
I wish all the very best to the Teach India Team and wish that it goes the long way....

I just thought to write back to you a bit more in detail of how are my Teach India classes going on!
Yes, they are going good, but I lose my tempo sometimes, you see...actually, the kids come in good bunch, in all sizes and ages...full of energy all in different lanes...I try my best to focus all their energies in one direction, but then...somehow I get lost in midst of all the innocent chatters and murmurs in between the group or they tend to get completely unruly at times!...I very well want these kids to remain "kids" and not have this fear thing against us...I dont want to come across to them as some strict teacher or a goody goody teacher who always comes up with some temptation/gifts....!!
Well, so this is all - a glimpse of what my mind is going through past 2 classes...i want to channelise these children in something constructive..at the same time giving them a perfect door to open themselves out and express themselves...
Lastly, I will give you an idea of what problems me facing and possible solutions which come to my mind..pls give your inputs as you feel so - !
- perhaps, the problem I am facing is in the no. of kids..what do u think should be an appropriate no of kids for an 2 volunteer team....?? We have around 35-40 kids in each class...and we waste a lot of time in orienting these kids towards the basic context of our class...since each one of them is in his/her own world!
- yes, we can surely do some activities too to involve them....I am just thinking loud - whether, dividing them in different groups should help.....??
- so the only medium of communication these kids are comfortable in is Gujarati - how much % should we include English in our training???...or for roadside kids, at this point of time, its more critical to stress and explain the thematic aspects rather than English....????
- get stuck when I have to get back the attention of these kids and keep their focus on our topic!!!
I know, all these are kind-of abstract/known points and depend on an individual's inborn ability to deal with them and build up the enthusiasm of the 2 hrs-per-class!!!...
but still, trust me, this Teach India oppurtunity has given me a chance to do what I love most - just be around kids..and doing this for the good of both of us...(the kids as well as us)...nothing can be more better!!! Thanks for this and I promise you that you will definitely see a positive change in both - the kids as well as us by the end of this session.
Warm Regards,
Anita Ramrakhiani
First of all thank you for giving me such a nice opportunity to teach small children. It was really one of the best experience I ever had in my life and in future also please contact me when ever you need any type of help for serving needy people.
Thank you once again.

“There were many children with good talents, but I'm afraid that they won't be given opportunity to prove themselves. One of the objectives of Teach India should identity such brilliant kids should be offered scholarship to pursue what they deserve, otherwise the talent will be wasted.”
